Serous multicystic papillary adenoma of the ovaries and glandular cystic hyperplasia of uterus in a Guinea Pig (Cavia porcellus)

Cystic changes of ovarian tissue are crucial as they cause infertility in laboratory animals. A 4 years old, weighing approximately 500 g adult, intact guinea pig had pruritic progressive alopecia over the flanks at dorsal area and abdomen symmetrically, bilaterally for a month. Beside, an abdominal enlargement was observed outside on pig. Large polycystic ovaries were detected behind kidneys during ultrasonography. Also radiography revealed cystic structures same region. Ovariohysterectomy performed animal, multiple thin walled, fluctuant fluid-filled, large cysts measured 3.9x2.5 4.5x2.8 cm diameter left right ovary, respectively. The uterine body normal macroscopically. died after operation reanimation because hypothermia. organ pieces submitted to pathology histopathological examination operation. Histologic demonstrated diagnosis serous multicystic papillary adenoma glandular hyperplasia uterus. In conclusion, this case report describes necessity not ignore pathologies with pigs demonstrate symmetric, bilateral skin indicates importance postoperative care animals despite successful anesthethic choice
